Once Again I Am Updating My Website

Last time I did this there was a global pandemic like a week later and every project I could possibly put up here came to a halt. The pandemic is still here, but we’re used to it / bored of it now, so it’s time to have a portfolio again.

There is a secondary purpose to the update this time; 3rd party internet infrastructure sucks ass now in a way that has gone beyond unstable and become outright hostile to indie creators. I’d like to relocate to my own site as my primary blogging/art platform and figure out some kind of solution to hook up my output to various social media platforms automatically. It used to be possible. I’m sure it is still possible one way or another. Ideally I would like to stop reading other people’s posts entirely. (If you’re reading this I don’t mean you, your content is funny and insightful and original, I’m talking about everyone else don’t worry).

Duck enclosed.

SCUM

I’m back baby!!! My new ongoing comic has finally launched with three full pages to give you a little taste of what we’re going to be in for with this very silly, very bloody, very high octane soap opera of sin. You can dive into it right now!

Keep an eye on the little thumbnail at the top of the front page for new updates, which will appear spasmodically from now on. The comic page itself will be spruced up over time with character pages, a proper archive etc. as we get deeper into the story. I’ll keep ya posted.

In the meantime, SET YOUR BOOKMARKS, SHARE THE NEWS. If you’re not following me on twitter, I highly recommend it for news of future updates. Even better, follow me on Patreon for page updates plus various bits and pieces from behind the scenes as the story continues.

Pics n Pods

First up an NPC portrait for the horror rpg I DM for friends once a week.

Second up, a new episode of Murder-Suicide Matinee went out last week and you can listen to it now!

I’m going to fix up the Podcasts tab soon but in the meantime here’s this. Well bye!

Site Updates & Patreon

The new website is finally taking shape, give or take a couple of unfinished spots. You can now access the full archive of Mythos under the ‘comics’ section, where all my new projects will also go as they’re completed. You can also check out galleries of my illustration work, which will similarly be updated as we go along.

For those who aren’t aware, the purpose of the new build is to eventually replace the way I used to work on tumblr. New art and writing will be hosted here, so I don’t have to worry about losing years of archives any time a social media site changes its policies, goes dark, or locks me out. You can still follow me in the usual places, but everything will eventually just link back here.

If you miss the smaller sketch type stuff and process posts I used to make, I highly recommend subscribing to my new Patreon. That’s mostly where I’ll be showing off my daily practice and rambling about theory from here on out.

So, hello again! Thanks for your patience while I figured all this out. I really appreciate everyone who’s stuck with me all these years, and I’m looking forward to developing some cool new stuff in a slightly more organised manner.

O

I’ve been struggling with my output recently , so last week I turned to twitter to give me a prompt for a lightning-fast flash comic. Through a series of 10-minute polls, twitter provided this:

‘an experimental horror about a reptile chasing a dream’

A few hours of intense work later, this is what I produced – I call it O.

Hi tumblr!

I’m currently rebuilding the site into a new hub for my art and writing. All my new content will be hosted here from now on, since external services have failed me so many times. Find me on twitter or pillowfort if you want to follow my social media presences, but ctrl-D and bookmark this here website if you want to stay up to date on all my projects and side content. It’s about to get considerably more exclusive.

Goodbye / Hello

I’m not going to make a big song and dance about this, but if you follow me on twitter you probably saw that I’m putting Mythos officially to bed for a while.

It’s a tale as old as time – I started it in college, the early chapters don’t represent the quality of my work any more, I’ve changed a ton (name, job, city, gender) since I started writing it, and I want to feel free to pursue new projects without that albatross around my neck. I might come back to it episodically now and again, but as my primary project it’s done.

As for The Deeps – the chapter is close to completion, but I’m not going to make any promises. I’ll continue to work on it when the mood takes me, but it’s no longer my focus. If it never gets finished, it never gets finished.

Thank you to the handful of you who have been (amazingly!) loyal to the comic over the years. It’s still very close to my heart, and so are you for understanding the things I set out to say. Now I want to move forward and bring you new stories at the pace and level you deserve.
